What started THE T-SHIRT HYPE…

Fraternity Pledge class shirts

I made a custom graphic for each pledge class that I thought represented the group of brothers and their experience best. The shirts were a surprise gift, meaning no one in the fraternity gave any input or ideas; I came up with the designs solely on my own based on what I knew about my friends.

Each shirt from start to finish was made by hand with no help from a third party of any kind. The process began with the use of the Apple iPad app Procreate to draw all the graphics by hand, followed by printing said graphics on heat transfer paper, then cutting each one out using a Cricut, and lastly applying the graphics to each individual shirt with a heat press. The text was made with vinyl, also designed on my iPad, cut out with a Cricut, and applied with a heat press. The project all together took approximately 6 months to complete, from October 2021-March 2022.

Each member got their own class shirt as a gift, and had the option to purchase a different class’s shirt. A total of 76 shirts were made.

MY FAVORITE GRAPHIC

tempe ski trip

The Eta Class consisted mostly of brothers that enjoyed going skiing and snow boarding. Winter break, they took a ski trip as a class going from the desert mountains of southern Arizona to the snowy mountains of northern Arizona.

MOST PURCHASED

PLEX SZN

The Lambda Class began in Fall 2020, the same season the fraternity rented out a property consisting of 6 separate homes, housing 12+ brothers, which they named “The Plex”. The Lambda Class spent a lot of their time together at the Plex.

Guitar Circle

The Iota Class had 6 brothers that all played guitar and sang very well. When it was their year to live in the fraternity house, they would have their own guitar circles and jam sessions for hours. Each of these brothers was represented on the shirt, with clear indicators of who was who.

COvid Vacation

The Kappa Class started out during the spring semester of 2020, when a few months in their was an international pandemic. Right before parting ways for COVID was Spring Break and the class was spending a lot of time on beaches.

Last Vegas Class

The Zeta Class was the only remaining class that had attended a Las Vegas formal in Spring 2018. Since then they had tried to plan a Vegas formal every semester, but some sort of obstacle always prevented them from going back. Everyone held out hope Spring 2022 was going to be a success (and it was!)

U-haul party

The Nu Class consistently enjoyed renting U-Hauls to drive around together. Additionally, before serenading sororities, they huddled together and shouted “NO MATTER WHAT, WE ARE SEXY” to calm their nerves and set the tone for the goofy dance that was about to take place.

Baby june

The Theta Class started at the same time their president adopted a husky puppy, June. They spent a lot of time with baby June and watched as she grew, got trained, and became a fraternity mascot. They all felt very connected to the pup.

A-Mountain Adventure

The Mu Class was often mispronounced as “moo”, hence the cow. The mountain in the graphic is a representation of A-Mountain, which sits in the middle of the city and allows a view of the entire campus.
